CRSHA Annual Meeting Scheduled for Jan. 24th

January 15, 2009

Dear Cross Roads Member: (need not be a member to come, also you may become a member at the meeting)

This letter is to remind you of and/or invite you to the CRSHA Annual Meeting scheduled for January 24th, 2009, at 2:00-4:00 P.M. It will be held at the Golden Corral on South Glenstone in Springfield.

Activities will include the Annual Meeting of the General Membership at which decisions will be made on the upcoming year, rule changes, 2009 set show bill, etc. We have received a proposal to “amend Rule #8 – Pony Class to change the rule to read “Youth 18/under class.” We will also have a speaker.

Over the last several years all of us have noticed some decrease in participation at shows. We will be discussing ideas that may help encourage more people to attend the shows. I am asking each of you to help by issuing a challenge to all our members to “bring a friend.” Our theme for this year is for it to be the year of “friend raising!” Please help the office and board of CRSHA come up with ideas to make this year a one of growth; in membership, show participation and ideas. Jayson Shriver (a CRSHA board member) and his wife Jenny are the new Show and Rules Chairpersons for 2009 and already have 10 shows confirmed with the possibility of one or two more. We are hoping to encourage more youth participation and the officers and board are working on developing a “4-H Youth and Fun Show.” Our hope is to become more “user friendly” for young and new exhibitors. Think about someone that you can invite that you can help understand that showing in Cross Roads is not scary and in fact can be a lot of fun with some really great people. Our board members have brought a lot of good ideas to the table that we are anxious to talk about.

Advertising for the 2009 Directory is due now. Please contact me or Sonya Anderson (or any board member) if you wish to place an ad. Remember this is where the funding for year-end awards is generated. Surprise someone with a whole page in the directory that is all about them. Lisa Ramsey is working on updating all the address and phone information, so if you know of something that is incorrect let us know so we can get that information to her.

We will no longer be using Equestrian Central magazine as our official CRSHA magazine. All information will be posted on the website . Please help us keep it up to date with pertinent information. Trudy Stewart will be our liaison board member with David Beers still acting as the “WebMaster.” If you have information please get in touch with David, Trudy or Nancy McCowan.

We are also developing a more complete list of e-mail addresses so that we can set up a “Saturday morning and it’s raining” quick list to send out show cancellation and rain date information. Please contact me at so that I can get your e-mail address on the list.

Plans continue for the 2009 Multi-State Invitational Championship. Get signed up early for CRSHA points so you can be eligible to participate. Information will be posted on the website.

See ya at the meeting!
